Kitty is back in the pottery

That's all I'll say for now. I have a lot of work to make, I am being very messy with Plaster of Paris and it is about 28 degrees outside. I have my new apron on too.

Plastering was so dull today. I found some tiles in the damp cupboard that had to have some attention so this is the result of the afternoon not a rack full of molds for snazzy feet for the fish dishes. They will make a nice splash back for my sink and they have got me thinking BIG too.

Is that 28 Celsius or Farenheit? Your clay toting story below reminded me of one time carrying bricks (which I got for free so how could I pass them up) in the trunk of my car, then to balance the load I put them on the floor of the back seat and then the floor of the front seat and drove home when I got home Gary just about killed me - I tried to trade him for the dump truck at the time and he said he needed it. Can't wait to see what you come up with next in your pottery. Kitty, how do you know when the clay is vitrified - do you do a test on it with water or some such after firing?

Thats 28 Celsius.I have all but forgotten Fahrenheit now although it was what I used to measure in.

With the clay vitrifying I can usually just tell form looking at it, there is a glassiness to the surface of the clay and what was happening to me with the Spanish clay was it was bubbling and distorting slightly. So all in all it was very frustrating particularly if I had spent days on the painting. The Staffordshire clay is lovely with a purple red colour so I think possibly it is high in Manganese too. I have brought back some very grogged body too as I am going to do a pit firing at the end of June out here with a friend who has some land, lots of fire requests have to go in before hand because of the risk of forest fire! I am going to make a huge ray dish for it.

I have not done any plaster work today now (best intentions and all that) instead I have begun a freeze on some tiles I found in the damp cupboard that needed working on. It is a test really for the next jar which I want to cover with the plants I have been drawing. (Picture later) I have also made a water pot like yours.
