Unlike the bird known as Vivien Westwood ( see earlier post) this bird is not actually called Zsa Zsa Gabor, she adopted it when she realised her immense beauty to replace the name Maggie Two Eyes. She has convinced her entire entourage that she is in fact from Budapest and that she went to a finishing school in Switzerland thus securing for herself an air of sophistication hitherto unattainable by common birds. However, the real truth of the matter is that her father was a Magpie from Croydon (mother, possibly a Cuckoo) and although she has none of his looks, she does have all of his traits, and lines her nest with mirrored shard's.Wednesday, March 17, 2010
The bird who likes to be called Zsa Zsa Gabor

Another beautiful bird. I like the combination of the color of the bird and the background color, has an antique looking quality to it. What is the background color? or is that the natural clay color?
Hi Linda,
Background colour on this one is a mix of white slip with a little touch of blue, I am not sure how it will come out and I still have not decided which glaze I am going to use, I liked your use of satin glaze and I have bought some so I may go down that route. What do you think?
Hi Kitty, oh I thought it was already fired with these colors. I think the satin would be great, these plates you are making have a historic looking color and remind me of some fabric from the 1940s or thereabouts and I think satin would enhance that.
The satin I used was made by Amaco and is the Sahara HF series, HF - 12 and is called clear satin. Don't know if you can get it but it worked well for me. If you do get it try just one coat - even though they recommend three coats and see how it does.
